Kecia Mays is a mother of three young men and has been married for 23 years. She was inspired to volunteer from a young age where she was a big sister in the Dallas Big Brother and Sister Program. She remained close friends with her little sister until she passed a few years ago from Lupus. She then became Vice President of the Dallas Urban League Guild which was a non-profit that assists with job applications and she spearheaded a youth program that targeted teenage females to have self confidence, hygiene and public speaking, Once she began having her own children, she served on their schools PTA from elementary through high school as Treasurer, Budget & Finance, Secretary, Vice President and President. She eventually became a board member of the Arlington Council of PTA’s where training and support is provided to all PTA’s in the Arlington district. Her love for PTA went so deep, she was selected to serve as a Texas PTA Field Service Representative where she had the opportunity to train and set up new PTAs in her respective area in Texas. She is a recipient of the Honorary Life Membership Award and Extended Service Award. As her sons continued through Arlington ISD, she served on the basketball and football booster clubs, as well as community ISD committees. She served on Future Financial Committee, Capital Needs Steering Committee and the first ever Citizens Bond Oversite Committee where she served as Chairman. Her love and newly found knowledge for the Arlington School District led to her, with her families support to run for the Arlington ISD School Board where she is going into her 3rd term and is currently the presiding President. Her love for students goes beyond the district and reaches to non-profit groups that have a direct impact on students. She currently sits on the board for Dental Health Arlington, Salvation Army Advisory Board, The Legacy Foundation and the Arlington Life Shelter. All three of her young men are attending separate colleges but her love for the Arlington ISD and students throughout the community is still strong.

Brig Serman spent over 30 years as a global sales executive with a major technology firm. In 2019, he founded Advanced Integrated Marketing to help leaders of small businesses harness technology to fuel growth. Brig and his wife Dawn are active in their church and the Arlington community supporting multiple charities, including Boys & Girls Clubs, Dental Health Arlington, Arlington Heritage Memorial Grounds, and Leadership Arlington. He is the recipient of the 2021 Sally Hopper Golden Crown Award.

Amy Cooper

Amy Cooper has been a Registered Dental Hygienist since 1996. Her dental hygiene students rotate through DHA participating in service-learning experiences where they provide preventive care to patients of all ages. She holds a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington and has been a resident of Arlington for 46 years.
Amy has been a member of the Greater Fort Worth Dental Hygienists’ Association since 1996 and has held several leadership roles, including Vice President, Fundraising Chair, and Secretary. She also taught Sunday School for six years when her two sons were young and enjoys volunteering to cook for various holidays and community services. In her spare time, Amy practices her skills as an amateur cookie decorator.

David Curtis

David Curtis, Jr. currently is the Sr. Manager, Human Resources for 4over, LLC and HR Consultant & CO-Founder for his company HOPS HR. He has more than 14 years of progressive HR experience including experience in employee relations, organizational effectiveness, benefits administration, labor relations, and more. David is a successful business partner with a focus on building relationships and providing strategic direction.
David holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification. He earned his Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MSHRM) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Texas at Arlington. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Human Resource Development. David has been a member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) since 2009. David joined the Advisory Board for the Tarrant County College Human Resources program in May 2019. In his spare time, David enjoys spending time with his family, tasting new craft beers, and doing woodworking projects.

Megan Brett

Megan Brett was born and raised in Arlington with a passion for service, specifically in the dental field. She is a bold, energetic, servant leader with a love for helping others. She graduated in 2022 with her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M University, with a minor in Public Health. She spent all her educational years planning to continue on to dental school. Because of this, she has extensive experience in various dental settings. Megan served as committee chair and Secretary of the TAMU Pre-Dental Society, worked as an Orthodontist Assistant and Pediatric Sterilization Tech, and accumulated over 120 shadowing hours in different dental offices.
After being accepted to multiple dental schools, Megan felt called to take her skills and passions elsewhere. Megan is now a Sales Representative for B9Creations, a 3D printer manufacturer. This position has provided the opportunity to bring business solutions utilizing technology in industries such as dental, medical, aerospace, jewelry, and more! Megan is also a member of the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the Partners in Education committee.
Outside of work, Megan is a proud dog mom to her goldendoodle Maverick. She loves to be outdoors, attend sporting events, and is always stirring up some form of adventure. Megan finds true joy in helping others. With her compassionate heart and competitive spirit, she will do anything to leave a smile on friends, family, and strangers’ faces!

I was born and raised in the heart of Arlington, TX and have always been grateful to this community for supporting me and lending a hand to my parents in helping shape me into who I am today. It is my privilege being an older sister to my siblings and also the youth director at the Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church. Everything that I do and everything that I stand for is an ongoing love letter to them.
I am married to my work at DPC Health, a membership-based clinic that provides primary, urgent, emergent care needs as well as weight loss, hormone replacement therapy, and aesthetics. Being a part of the healthcare field has always been my first love. It is my honor to be a part of Dental Health Arlington to contribute to a wonderful organization that is catered to the community that loved me in first.

Maureen Maidlow is an Investment Advisor with OverRidge Wealth Advisors. She has often been accused of greeting everyone she meets with a smile and striking up a conversation. Maureen has lived in Arlington for 34 years. In her free time, Maureen is active in her church teaching in the youth group, on the board of the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce and past chair of Recovery Resource Council. Maureen and her husband, Brad, have two children and a great son-in-law and a pup named Lexi.

Scott Parsinen

Scott Parsinen is a proud husband, Dad and die-hard UT Arlington Alumnus.
He is a lifelong entrepreneur having started or helped expand more than 10 startups including dental biotech companies etkonUSA, 2C Dental and Cadmus Dental and has always chosen to be based in Arlington, Texas.
Scott is a technology innovator with over 30 years of business experience and 15 years in digital dentistry which led to the acquisition of etkonUSA by dental implant giant Straumann where he stayed on and continued to help educate others and further implement digital dentistry into the industry.
He then continued his dental career path helping Whip Mix and Biomet 3i launch their digital dental divisions until launching his own company from within the walls of UTA’s Startup Lounge in 2016.
Scott enjoys traveling with his lovely wife Melissa and visiting with their grown children and grandson.
He is a Board Member of the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation, a champion of the Startup community working closely with the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce and Arlington ISD, a 1Million Cups organizer, Co-founder of House of Genius Arlington and mentors several entrepreneurs of all ages.
Scott truly has a passion for caring for others and using his skills and experience to help others overcome adversity and build their dreams.

Dr. Robert Maxey

In 1991 Dr. Robert D. Maxey earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree from Baylor University. He then graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1995 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After graduation, he completed an AEGD residency at Sheppard Air Force Base as a Captain in the United States Air Force. He began his private practice career in 1998 at The Dental Place in Grand Prairie and has remained at that same practice for 25 years. He began as one of three dentists at the practice, but now serves as the sole practitioner with two dental hygienists. For several years he volunteered his time screening children for sealants at various elementary schools in the GPISD and has also performed no-cost dental care for needy patients while participating in the Donated Dental Services program. In addition, Dr. Maxey is a member of the Dallas County Dental Society, the TDA, and the ADA.
Dr. Maxey and his wife of 28 years met in dental school and they have two daughters. Their older daughter is earning her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston, while their younger daughter is at Tarleton State University studying kinesiology in preparation for obtaining her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Dr. Maxey enjoys cruising, traveling to beach resorts, going to the gym, and “decompressing” with friends at various local Mexican restaurants.

Jake Johnson is a dedicated professional with a diverse background in sales, marketing, and customer service. Currently an Advisor at Marsh McLennan Agency, with 2 years of experience he utilizes his expertise in employee benefits to provide valuable guidance and support to clients. With extensive experience, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to customer satisfaction, Jake is a valuable asset in any professional setting. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jake has a strong commitment to service. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and currently serves as the Bishop of a congregation, demonstrating his dedication to helping others both in and outside of the workplace.

Rachel Guy

Rachel Guy is a dedicated native of Arlington, Texas, with a passion for serving homeless and underserved children. She has been actively involved in various local boards, including the Arlington Life Shelter, significantly aiding the homeless community. Currently, Rachel is the Executive Director of Camp Impact, a summer camp that provides transformative experiences for underserved and homeless children in Arlington and Grand Prairie. Professionally, she operates as Managing Director at First Rate, where her leadership skills shine. Her deep commitment to service and community betterment highlights her as a quietly influential figure in Arlington’s civic sphere.

Sandy Hobart, MA, CPhT
Board Member
Sandy Hobart chairs the Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC), instructs the Pre-Medical Preceptorship course, and leads the Health Professions Office as the senior health professions advisor, at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), her alma mater. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2007, worked in the pharmacy industry for several years, specializing in intravenous compounds and narcotics. Sandy always enjoyed training others, which lead her to realize her passion was in education. She has been in higher education since 2015 and plans on staying. Sandy truly enjoys being able to combine her healthcare knowledge with her UTA experiences to support current UTA in reaching their goals. She obtained a Master’s in Higher Education Administration with an Academic Advising Certificate in 2022 and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Higher Education Leadership with a concentration in academic support programs. Her research is focused on factors influencing post-graduation success. She hopes to promote holistic practices in a leadership role to positively impact student outcomes.
Sandy is the mom of an awesome 9-year-old boy and 2 cats. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her son & friends, traveling, watching sports, jogging, and naps!

Brooklyn Richardson

Brooklyn currently serves as Secretary of the AISD Board of Trustee where she was elected in 2023 and continues to advocate for the community’s youth and educational excellence. She also serves as a Director of Youth & Children Ministries at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She lives in Arlington with her husband Keith, daughter Nolie and son Reid. She also lives with four dogs, a bearded dragon and a neighborhood cat! She serves as a co-leader for Girl Scouts Troop 3544 and is active in her neighborhood book club. Brooklyn brings a skill set of communication and a heart to serve and nurture even the “least of these”.

Dr. John Avila is a native Texan, born in Laredo and raised in San Antonio. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at Texas A&M University, and then completed his dental training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Avila is a member of many dental organizations and does community work at Dental Health Arlington Clinic.

Dr. Larissa Vilela

Dr. Larissa Vilela is a DDS from Brazil, with a Ph.D. from Canada. She has devoted hundreds of hours to community service, coordinating and delivering oral health education programs to high-risk public school. She and her husband own the Golf Center of Arlington, recognized nationwide as a Top 50 golf range, and the 2024 Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year by the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce. Larissa is actively involved in her children’s school and supports various Arlington community organizations, including AISD PTA, Dental Health Arlington, Theater Arlington, and Arlington Life Shelter. She is excited to join the DHA board and be able to impact the oral health of community members positively.

Roderick Floyd is a dynamic entrepreneur, IT expert, financial advisor, and musician with a passion for technology, business, and community service. As the Owner and President of CMIT Solutions of Arlington, he leads a team providing managed IT services and cybersecurity solutions. With over two decades in IT and a background in financial advising, Roderick helps businesses and individuals navigate technology and finance to drive success. His entrepreneurial spirit was inspired by his grandfather, a visionary businessman who owned five enterprises, including Walkers Auditorium—a cultural landmark that fostered music, education, and opportunity.
A Legacy of Innovation & Leadership
Growing up in Waco, Texas, Roderick was deeply influenced by music and technology, producing his first song and building his first computer at just 12 years old. He served in his church’s Men’s Choirs, and led as Minister of Technology, blending his passion for music with technology and leadership. His dedication led him to earn degrees in Commercial Music, Audio Technology, Computer Network Administration, and Network Security—graduating with a 4.0 GPA and making the President’s List every semester. His IT career, including a tenure at Verizon, shaped his expertise in cybersecurity, network administration, and business technology solutions.

Beyond his professional achievements, Roderick is known for his ability to connect people and create opportunities. He thrives on building relationships, mentoring, and fostering success for those around him. As Co-Chair of the Black Business Alliance, committee member of the Silver Eagle Council, Board Member of the RiseBack Association, Ambassador for the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce, \lead Dan Dipert Liaison for the Arlington Highlands Rotary Rod champions entrepreneurship, education, and economic empowerment. His leadership extends beyond IT, as he also owns a health and wellness supplement company Launched youth sport Pop Warner Football and AAU Basetball teams and actively supports small businesses in achieving financial stability and growth.
A Devoted Family Man & Visionary
Roderick is a dedicated husband to Dr. Dione Floyd and a proud father of three, with his youngest, Jaylen, attending Oklahoma State University on a Jazz Studies Scholarship. His journey—from his grandfather’s entrepreneurial legacy to his own accomplishments—reflects resilience, innovation, and a commitment to uplifting others. Through technology, music, and community engagement, Roderick continues to inspire the next generation to build lasting legacies.

Alexis Holguin

Alexis Holguin spent over 15 years in corporate HR departments for medium and large companies. She recently founded her own HR consulting company, The Fun HR Pros, to help growing businesses create a people and HR compliance framework that supports their long-term needs. She is an active member of the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce and was recognized in the 2024 40 Under 40 Class. Alexis and her husband are both avid golfers and have served in different roles on the Board of Shady Valley Country Club as well as numerous committees.

Lynn Norris, a U.S. Air Force veteran from Frostburg, Maryland, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1988. He has been married to Cindy Norris for 37 years and has lived in Arlington since 1983. Lynn worked as an Aerospace engineer at Lockheed Martin for 10 years before embarking on a 27-year career in consulting and sales, currently as VP of Sales for North America East at Radiant Logic. He is also active in his church, singing in the Chancel Choir and serving as treasurer for his Sunday School class.
